The story behind the ink

We listen first and ink second.

Papa's Inks is a tattoo studio in Kathmandu. We make custom work for people who want their tattoo to mean something, and we are honest about what it takes to make it last.

Our philosophy

A tattoo is a story you carry.

People come to a tattoo studio with very different things. Some have known exactly what they want for a decade. Some have a feeling they cannot quite describe yet. Both are a good place to start.

Our job is to ask the right questions, to understand the meaning behind the idea, and to translate it into artwork that fits the person and the body it will live on.

That is why we listen first. A tattoo drawn without understanding the person is just a drawing.

How we work

Four commitments

These are the things we can promise regardless of the tattoo, because they describe how we work rather than how good we claim to be.

We listen

Your idea, reference, memory or question comes before any drawing.

We explain

If something will not work as a tattoo, we tell you and explain why — and what would work instead.

We plan for healing

A tattoo is only finished once it has healed. We design and advise with that in mind.

We stay reachable

You leave with aftercare guidance and a way to contact the studio while it heals.
